Background:
Justin P. Mohler, CPA, is a shareholder with Watson & Associates, Inc. With over eleven years of specialization in state and local tax consulting, he has extensive experience in all areas of state and local taxation, including, but not limited to, Ohio’s new commercial activity tax, multi-state income and franchise tax, sales and use tax, real and personal property tax, site selection and business credits/incentives, and unclaimed funds.
As an active member of the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants’ (“Society”) Tax Legislation Policy Committee, Justin serves as a technical resource for tax-related legislation and regulatory matters. In this role he makes recommendations on tax policy matters to the Society’s Governmental Affairs Advisory Council and Executive Board. Other responsibilities as a member of the Tax Legislation Policy Committee include providing testimony on tax related issues before the Ohio General Assembly, servings as press spokesperson for the Society on tax-related issues, and assisting in interaction with approved legislative and special interest bodies to assure that the Society’s views on proposed legislation or broader matters of tax policy are properly considered.
Prior to joining Watson & Associates, Inc., Justin was a Tax Executive in the Columbus, Ohio office of Crowe Chizek and Company LLC, the 8th largest public accounting firm in the United States. While with Crowe Chizek, he served as the state and local tax consulting practice leader for Crowe Chizek’s Ohio tax practice. Because of his entrepreneurial spirit and outstanding leadership skills, he also served as the firm’s national property tax leader. Prior to joining Crowe Chizek, Justin spent several years with the United States’ largest public accounting firm (Arthur Andersen LLP) in its state and local tax consulting practice in Columbus, Ohio. Justin’s experience ranges from providing consulting services to the world’s largest businesses, to working with small family owned businesses.
Justin and his wife, Tera, live in Mechanicsburg, Ohio, and have three children, Zane, Emelia and Weston. He is an avid Ohio State sports fan, and enjoys golf, hunting, fishing and working on the family’s 150-year-old farmhouse.

In addition to serving on the Society’s Tax Legislation Policy Committee, he is also a former Board Member of the Society’s Young CPA Section and candidate for the Society’s Executive Board, which the Society’s senior governing board.

Justin is a frequent speaker on various state and local tax matters, including Ohio’s recent legislative changes, which are its most significant in over 40 years. He has given presentations for The Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, Lorman Education Services, The Ohio Automobile Dealers Association, and the Annual Bank Tax Institute.
